Mental Health in Career Development

The SKCDA is pleased to host a professional development event for Career Development practicioners.

This PD event, titled "Mental Health in Career Development" will feature Nikki Landon, Regional Manager of the Neil Squire Society in Regina, Saskatchewan.

About the presentation
Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, mental health, illness, involvement, and stress are becoming more openly discussed. As such, it has became part of the fabric of career development and career counseling. Our clients disclose more openly their anxiety, depression, and other co-morbidities under the umbrella of mental diagnoses as we work with them. It is more woven into the work we do together than ever before. And it has also opened the door for practitioners, such as myself, to disclose and share my lifelong involvement and diagnosis, further connecting us as we walk the path of career development together.

About Nikki:
Nikki Langdon is a practicing career practitioner and manager and also lives with mental illness. In this session, she will share her story and answer questions about living with mental illness for many years. She will also share how this illness is more and more prevalent with her clients and how she works with clients who share this illness as a barrier to finding and sustaining employment.
