Saskatchewan Career Development Association Career Development Practitioner Certification
Career Development Practitioner Certification
Interested becoming a certified Career Development Professional (CDP)?
Currently, discussion is ongoing at the national level regarding the possibility of implementing a National Career Development Certification program. Assuming National Certification does move forward, it likely won’t be in place until about or sometime in 2021. Few details are available at this point, as consultations are in the planning phase. For more information on developments, please visit the Canadian Council for Career Development website: https://cccda.org/index.php/cdp-competence.
Update - Aug 2021 -The National Profile is a subset of the full Competency Framework for CDPs and delineates the competencies of a client-facing generalist who delivers service in a range of contexts to a diverse clientele. The Profile can be used by training providers to update and refine offerings, by employers to inform recruitment and the development of learning plans, and by CDPs in their own professional development and growth. Once a national certification program is launched, the National Profile will also underpin the requirements associated with the national Certified Career Development Professional (CCDP) designation. Thank you to all the brilliant CDPs across Canada whose expertise, experience, and voices are imbued in the National Profile. http://ccdp-pcdc.ca/en/
CDP certification is not required or available in Saskatchewan. In the interim, the New Brunswick Career Development Association has agreed to process certification applications from practitioners in Saskatchewan. Further details can be found on their website at: http://www.nbcda-adcnb.ca/ under the “Certification” tab.
In addition, Career Professionals of Canada (CPC) offers two levels of certification in four competency areas of practice—resume, interview, employment and career strategy. SKCDA Member Benefit: 10% discount on fees.
